How to deal with the problem of cleaning up impurities in feed processing technology?

During animal feed pellet processing, blockage of the slide pipe, poor feed path, idling of the conveying machinery, crushing of the crusher screen and the die of the feeder are sometimes damaged or broken due to imperfect cleaning procedures. To avoid the above phenomena, the following points should be noted in the design of the cleaning process.

1. Reasonable design and use of screen wires  

The screen wire is generally installed at the receiving port and is the first part of the cleaning process. Because its composition is too simple, it is often the most easily overlooked. Grid screen wire design should first consider a reasonable screen wire. The size of the screen gap is generally determined by the geometric size of the material. For corn, powdered auxiliary materials and rice, the screen gap should be within 3cm; for oilseeds, the screen gap should be between 3 and 5cm. At the same time, the screen wire should be fixed during use, and the debris screened should be removed in time. In this way, the purpose of preliminary cleaning can be effectively achieved.

2. Horizontal conveying machinery should be reasonably arranged in the process

Because of the low cost of horizontal conveying machinery, high conveying efficiency, and simple structure, it is widely used in feed processing technology. However, due to improper use, its failure rate is correspondingly high. It is more common to convey the material after the initial cleaning of the screen directly to the hoist through the twister or scraper. As the materials go through a screen cleaning process, many shorter hemp ropes, smaller sack pieces and other impurities can easily be entangled or jammed in the horizontal conveying machinery, which reduces the efficiency of the use of these equipments and burns the motor in heavy cases. Certain economic losses. Therefore, in the process design, the horizontal conveying machinery should be avoided before the primary cleaning and magnetic separation equipment. The material in the lower hopper is best sent to the elevator directly through the slide tube. This will minimize the impact of debris on the conveying equipment.

3. Reasonably select the technological parameters of the initial cleaning screen

The initial cleaning screen is the main equipment in the cleaning process. It is used to remove debris such as hemp rope, sack pieces, stones, and mud in the materials. The choice of process parameters has a direct impact on the cleaning effect. The following issues should be noted in the design and selection of primary cleaning screens:

(1) Select the appropriate screen hole diameter

According to the physical properties and geometric dimensions of the sieve material, the appropriate sieve diameter should be selected.

(2) Adjustable dust-removing air intake should be selected

This condition can be achieved by setting a valve above the suction port.

(3) Choose sufficient production capacity

In the design parameters, the processing capacity of the sieve should be about 30% higher than the conveying capacity of the conveying equipment in the previous process.

In the design, reasonable selection of the above parameters can effectively improve the work efficiency of the screen.

4. Reasonable selection of magnetic separator

The impurities such as iron nails, bolts, nuts, small iron lumps mixed in the feed materials are the most harmful to the high-speed crusher and feeder. If it is light, the bottom of the sieve will be broken, and if it is damaged, the die will be damaged and the motor will be burned. Reasonable location setting is very important.

There are two types of magnetic separation equipment commonly used in the design: one is a permanent magnet cylinder; the other is a permanent magnet drum. The former has a small volume, a small footprint, no power consumption, and an ideal demagnetization effect. However, it is only suitable for powders and pellets with smaller geometric dimensions. In addition, the adsorbed metal foreign bodies need to be manually removed regularly; compared with the latter, the cost is higher and the volume is larger, but for cakes with larger geometric sizes, agglomerated bran and other materials are also applicable. Although there is power consumption, it can automatically remove the adsorbed metal foreign bodies in time. The high position setting in the process is more applicable. However, in the design of smaller feed mills, in view of the limitations of capital, plant area and other factors, the inexpensive permanent magnet cylinder is more commonly used than that.

The position of the magnetic separator in the process is as follows:

(1) Place the magnetic separator after the initial cleaning screen and before the pulverizer

This can effectively remove metal impurities in the raw materials of the particles. Avoid damage to the crusher.

(2) Install a magnetic separator on the upper part of the granulation powder silo

This can effectively prevent the metal impurities mixed into the raw material from entering the granulator to damage the die.

(3) Place magnetic separator on the top of the packing scale

This method is not commonly used in the design of process flow, but it is necessary to remove the foreign metal in the auxiliary raw materials that have not been initially cleaned, thereby further improving and ensuring the quality of the finished feed.

The equipments discussed today include powder cleaning sieves, cylindrical primary sieves, permanent magnet cylinders, and screw conveyors. These are cleaning and sieving equipment.
